Children

History David Ford first began traveling to Russia in the winter of 2001 with Josh McDowell Ministry's "Operation Carelift". "The first time I entered an orphanage in St Petersburg, Russia I saw the desperation of the children living there. This experience had a major impact on my life. I knew at this time that I wanted to continue to try and help make a difference to these kids. After several more trips to Russia a friend of mine and I formed a ministry called Orphan Cry. We started traveling to Russia with short term teams 2 times a year. I realized after several trips that the only truly effective way to minister to these children was to do so on a consistent basis. After much prayer I felt that God was calling me to move to Russia. I have now been here for 2 years already and after much prayer I have now formed a new organization called "Behind the Walls". This name comes from the fact that we are not only ministering to orphan children but are now also actually going into homes and reaching out to children that are suffering neglect, abuse, hunger and sometimes even sexual abuse.
No one knows about these children and they
are in a sense trapped "Behind the Walls". |

Goals Our goals are: 1) to minister to these children as well as to try to bring them out of this situation. 2) bring them into our own Christian refuge center where we can form relationships and teach and disciple them in a Christian environment. The only way to effectively minister to orphan children and children at risk in Russia is to go into those very places where they are living.
